For days, something didn’t feel right.
My daughter Clara had always been consistent about staying in touch—whether it was a quick message during the week or our regular Sunday dinners. But this time, an entire week passed with no calls, no replies, and no updates. At first, I tried to stay calm, assuming she was simply busy. Still, the silence felt unusual.
Clara had been married for a few years, and like many couples, they had their routines and adjustments. I had occasionally sensed changes in her behavior—she seemed quieter and less connected to her usual social circle—but I told myself it was part of settling into married life.
After seven days without contact, I decided to check on her in person.
