A fourth-grade teacher was giving her pupils a lesson in logic.

“Here is the situation,” she said. “A man is standing up in a boat in the middle of a river, fishing. He loses his balance, falls in, and begins splashing and yelling for help. His wife hears the commotion, knows he can’t swim, and runs down to the bank. Why do you think she ran to the bank?”

The teacher asked, “What if Jonah went to hell?”

The little girl replied, “Then you ask him!”

The man sitting next to him looks over and says, “Eating so many chocolate bars is bad for you.”

The boy looks over and replies, “My great-grandfather lived to be one hundred and five”.

The man replies, “And he ate so much chocolate?”

That night, lying in my old room and listening to the rain, I made a quiet promise: I would walk away from the hurt without losing my strength or kindness. Life would always bring its challenges, but from that moment on, I chose to be the coffee.
