Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta
This creamy Cajun chicken pasta is rich, flavorful, and perfect when you want a comforting homemade meal with a little kick. Tender pieces of seasoned chicken are combined with pasta and coated in a silky, cheesy cream sauce that feels both cozy and restaurant-worthy. It is easy enough for a weeknight dinner but delicious enough to impress anyone at the table.
The Cajun spices bring warmth and bold flavor, while the cream, milk, and parmesan make the sauce smooth and satisfying. If you like, you can also add colorful bell peppers for extra texture and freshness.
Ingredients
For the chicken
- 2 chicken fillets (about 300 g)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt, if needed
For the pasta and sauce
- 350 g pasta (penne, tagliatelle, fettuccine, or similar)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 20 cl heavy cream
- 10 cl milk (or a little more to adjust consistency)
- 60 g grated parmesan
- 1 teaspoon paprika or extra Cajun seasoning
- Black pepper
- Optional: 1 red or yellow bell pepper, sliced
Instructions
1. Cook the pasta
Cook the pasta in salted boiling water according to the package instructions. Drain, but save a little of the pasta cooking water.
2. Prepare the Cajun chicken
Cut the chicken into strips or cubes. Season with the Cajun spices and a little salt if needed.
Heat the olive oil in a hot skillet and cook the chicken until golden and fully cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
3. Make the creamy sauce
In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the onion and the bell pepper if using, and cook until soft.
Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute.
Pour in the cream and milk. Add the paprika or extra Cajun seasoning, black pepper, and parmesan. Stir over low heat until the sauce thickens. If needed, add a little pasta water to loosen the sauce.
4. Combine everything
Return the chicken to the sauce, then add the cooked pasta. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated.
Homemade Cajun Seasoning (Optional)
If you want to make your own Cajun spice blend, mix together:
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper
Tip
Serve with a squeeze of lemon juice and a little chopped fresh parsley for a fresh finishing touch.
This creamy Cajun chicken pasta is one of those dishes that brings together spice, creaminess, and comfort in the best way. It is warm, filling, and full of flavor in every bite.
