My mother-in-law made this for every potluck from 1975 to 2010. Only 3 ingredients and people still ask for the recipe..

3-Ingredient Church Supper Chicken

3-Ingredient Church Supper Chicken

Simple, creamy, and always a crowd-pleaser

This easy oven-baked chicken comes together with pantry basics—cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and buttery crackers for a golden topping. Minimal effort, maximum comfort.

Ingredients

  • 4–6 chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 sleeve buttery crackers (like Ritz), crushed

Instructions

1) Preheat the oven

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.

2) Arrange the chicken

Place chicken in the prepared dish (spread out in an even layer if possible).

3) Make the creamy sauce

In a bowl, mix:

  • cream of chicken soup
  • sour cream
Stir until smooth, then pour/spread evenly over the chicken.

4) Add the cracker topping

Sprinkle crushed crackers evenly over the top.

5) Bake

Bake uncovered for 40–50 minutes, until:

  • chicken is fully cooked through
  • topping is golden and crisp

(If using thicker chicken pieces, you may need a little extra time.)

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve over ricenoodles, or mashed potatoes
  • Add a side of steamed green beans or corn

Optional Tip (for best texture)

For extra crisp topping, crush crackers fairly fine and don’t cover the dish during baking.

If you want, tell me whether you’re using breasts or thighs, and I can give a more exact bake time.
