Ingredients: A Hearty and Flavorful Combination

Here’s what you’ll need to make this delicious slow cooker Italian sausage with egg noodles:

  • Italian Sausage: 1 lb of mild or hot Italian sausage, sliced or left whole.
  • Onion: 1 medium onion, diced for flavor and sweetness.
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced for added depth.
  • Crushed Tomatoes: 1 (14.5 oz) can for a rich tomato base.
  • Chicken or Beef Broth: 1 cup to create a flavorful broth for cooking.
  • Tomato Paste: 2 tablespoons for extra richness.
  • Italian Seasoning: 1 tablespoon for herbs and flavor.
  • Red Pepper Flakes: Optional, for a bit of heat.
  • Egg Noodles: 12 oz of wide egg noodles to soak up all the sauce.
  • Parmesan Cheese: 1/2 cup, grated, for serving.
  • Olive Oil: 1 tablespoon for browning the sausage.
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste, for seasoning.
  • Optional Add-Ins: Bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach, or zucchini for extra vegetables.

Step-by-Step Instructions: How to Make Slow Cooker Italian Sausage with Egg Noodles

  1. Brown the Sausage:
  • In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Brown the Italian sausage on all sides for 5-6 minutes until golden brown but not fully cooked through. Transfer the sausage to the slow cooker. (If you prefer not to brown, you can skip this step, but browning adds flavor.)
  1. Sauté the Onion and Garlic:
  • In the same skillet, sautĂ© the diced onion for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Transfer the onions and garlic to the slow cooker with the sausage.
  1. Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings:
  • In the slow cooker, add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, broth, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir everything together until well combined. Season with salt and pepper.
  1. Cook in the Slow Cooker:
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours. The sausage will become tender, and the sauce will develop deep, rich flavors.
  1. Cook the Egg Noodles:
  • About 20 minutes before serving, cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  1. Combine the Noodles and Sauce:
  • Once the slow cooker sausage and sauce are ready, gently stir in the cooked egg noodles. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a bit more broth or water to reach your desired consistency.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve the Italian sausage and egg noodles in bowls, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired. Pair with garlic bread or a side salad for a complete meal.

Variations and Tips

  • Make it Creamy: For a creamy version, stir in 1/2 cup of heavy cream or a few tablespoons of cream cheese during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Spicy Kick: Use hot Italian sausage and extra red pepper flakes for a spicy version.
  • Vegetarian Option: Use plant-based sausage or omit the sausage and add more vegetables like zucchini, bell peppers, or mushrooms.
  • Add Vegetables: You can add bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach, or zucchini to the slow cooker during the last hour of cooking for extra flavor and nutrition.

Serving Suggestions

  • Garlic Bread: Serve with a side of garlic bread to mop up the delicious sauce.
  • Side Salad: A simple green salad with balsamic vinaigrette pairs beautifully with this dish.
  • Grated Parmesan: Don’t forget a generous sprinkling of Parmesan cheese on top for a cheesy finish.

Definitely one of the greatest party snacks ever

by

Today, I have a recipe to share that is great for gatherings or for a simple snack in the evening—Low Carb Bacon Cheddar Mini Cheese Balls. As someone who is busy with work and home responsibilities, I find these small snacks to be a lifesaver when I need something fast but satisfying. Inspired by the traditional cheese balls often seen at family events, I have created a version with fewer carbohydrates. These small cheese snacks are tasty, simple to prepare, and sure to be a hit with a group. Also, who can say no to something that has bacon and cheddar?

These delicious cheese balls are great by themselves. If you want to turn them into a meal, try serving them with a fresh green salad or some vegetables cooked in the oven. They also go well with a selection of cured meats, creating a nice contrast with some sour pickles and ripe cherry tomatoes. For a party snack, offer different sauces for dipping, such as Dijon mustard or a mild ranch dressing.

Small cheese balls with bacon and cheddar, low in carbohydrates.

Number of portions: 8

 List of components.

8 ounces of cream cheese that has been left out to soften.

1 cup of grated strong cheddar cheese

6 pieces of bacon, cooked and broken into small pieces.

1 tablespoon of chopped fresh chives

Half a teaspoon of garlic powder.

1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

1/2 cup of pecans, chopped into small pieces.

 Instructions

In a big bowl, mix together the soft cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon pieces, chives, garlic powder, and black pepper.

Stir everything together until all ingredients are mixed well and the mixture is smooth.

Shape the cheese mixture into small, bite-sized balls using your hands.

Cover each ball with the chopped pecans by rolling them in the nuts until they are evenly coated.

Put the cheese balls covered in coating on a plate or tray.

Put the cheese balls in the fridge for at least an hour before serving so they can become firm.

 Different Types and Advice

There are many ways to personalize these small cheese balls! To give it some extra flavor, you can include chopped jalapeños or sprinkle some cayenne pepper. If you don’t like pecans, you can use crushed walnuts or sunflower seeds instead. You can also try using different herbs, like replacing chives with scallions or adding some dill for a natural flavor. If you want more flavor, adding a bit of hot sauce to the cheese mix can spice things up. Finally, feel free to prepare them in advance—they keep well in the fridge for a few days.

My pecan pie cheesecake

by

 Introduction

Pecan pie cheesecake is a delightful blend of two classic desserts—pecan pie and cheesecake. This dessert features a creamy, rich cheesecake filling with a sweet, gooey pecan pie layer on top. Perfect for holiday gatherings, special occasions, or whenever you need a decadent treat, this dessert brings together the nutty sweetness of pecans with the smoothness of cheesecake.

 Ingredients

Crust:

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
¼ cup granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Cheesecake Filling:

3 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Pecan Pie Topping:

1 cup chopped pecans
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup corn syrup (light or dark)
¼ cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt

 Directions

Prepare the Crust:

Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
In a mixing bowl, blend together the graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter until well combined. Mix until well combined.
Firmly press the crumb mixture into the base of a 9-inch springform pan to form an even crust. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, then set it aside to cool completely.

Make the Cheesecake Filling:

Using a large bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and sugar until the texture is smooth and creamy.
Gradually add the eggs, incorporating one at a time and mixing thoroughly after each addition.
Stir in the sour cream and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
Pour the cheesecake filling over the cooled crust.

Bake the Cheesecake:

Bake the cheesecake for 55-65 minutes, or until the middle is nearly set with a slight wobble.
Turn off the oven, leave the door slightly open, and allow the cheesecake to cool inside for about an hour.
Take the cheesecake out of the oven and refrigerate it for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to chill completely.

Prepare the Pecan Pie Topping:

In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously until it reaches a boil.

Stir in the chopped pecans and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before spreading it over the chilled cheesecake.

Chill and Serve:

Refrigerate the cheesecake with the pecan topping for at least an hour before serving.
Slice and enjoy!

 Serving and Storage Tips

Serving: Serve the pecan pie cheesecake chilled, topped with a dollop of whipped cream if desired. It’s perfect as is or alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Storage: keep any remaining cheesecake in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. For longer storage, wrap the cheesecake slices tightly and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.

 Tips for Success

Room Temperature Ingredients: Make sure the cream cheese, eggs, and sour cream are at room temperature before mixing to ensure a smooth filling.
Avoid Overmixing: Mix the ingredients just until combined to prevent incorporating too much air, which can cause cracks in the cheesecake.
Use a Water Bath: Placing the springform pan in a water bath during baking can help prevent cracks and keep the cheesecake moist.

Health Benefits

While pecan pie cheesecake is a decadent dessert, pecans offer some health benefits. They are packed with beneficial fats, dietary fiber, and high-quality protein. Pecans also contain essential vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc, which are important for overall health. However, this dessert should be enjoyed in moderation due to its high sugar and calorie content.
